The Nanee is an experiential boutique hotel nestled within a community living setting. We are dedicated to sustaining and regenerating the heritage of Bhaktapur by carefully curating authentic and immersive experiences. Every aspect of our property and services, from the art and architecture to the rooms, cuisine, amenities, and activities, is deeply rooted in traditional Newari culture while being thoughtfully adapted for modern comfort. The Nanee aims to provide financial support to the artisans and custodians of Bhaktapur's heritage by engaging travelers with authentic immersive experiences and by sharing their compelling narratives.

1. Culture and Heritage
  • Living Culture: We host regular cultural events, storytelling sessions, and traditional workshops led by local artisans and elders.
  • Architecture & Craft: Our design respects Newari traditions. Restoration and decor use local materials and skilled craftsmen.
  • Community Partnership: We collaborate with local guthi, schools, and artists to co-create programs and heritage walks that benefit the local economy.
  • Respect & Ethics:  Cultural practices are presented with consent and context. Guests receive orientation on respectful behavior and customs.

2. Community Engagement
  • Local Hiring & Training: We maintain a majority-local workforce while providing hospitality training and skills development opportunities for the youth of Bhaktapur.
  • Support for Local Artisans: We provide dedicated retail and display spaces for traditional crafts and artworks, connecting local artisans with guests while sharing the stories behind their creations.
  • Festivals & Culture: We collaborate with local communities to promote and participate in traditional festivals such as Biska Jatra and Saparu, celebrating Bhaktapur's rich cultural heritage.
